We've got another active recovery day on the schedule today!
We can't emphasize this enough -- THESE DAYS ARE IMPORTANT!
Athlete's have a tendency to do one of two things:
1. Ignore rest days. More is not always better. We all have goals we want to accomplish, but if you don't give your body some much needed rest during the week, the returns on your training days are going to diminish quickly. Using these days to move without "training" will help keep you ready to attack your other training days with the correct amount of intensity!
2. Overdue rest days. Rest days do NOT mean sitting on your can all day! You still need to move. Your movement for that day just needs to be focused on working out any stiffness or soreness you maybe experiencing as a result of your previous training days. Not moving will only make that soreness worse!
Ok, hopefully we've got your attention! So, we can imagine some of you saying to yourself "If I'm going to rest, I'n definitely NOT running/jogging!" We get it. Like many people who flock to CrossFit, running was either something they didn't want to do or wasn't getting the job done on its own.
The jogs that are in today's workout are simply a suggestion. You can take a leisurely bike ride around the neighborhood. Maybe take a long walk with your family (or your dog). Try some at-home yoga (isn't YouTube great?!). Or if you've got a subscription to ROMWOD or GoWOD (or something similar), do one of their routines!
The key is to move. Focus on breathing. Focus on mobility.
Enjoy the day!
